Testing to improve educational achievements

Should student really be required to take standardize test and receive twenty four core curriculum credits in order to graduate? Although many students graduate high school, many still do not graduate their actual year they are suppose to. Many have to go back to receive one or two credits that may have been missed the previous years(s). Many are even put in remedial programs in order to pass the graduation exams, which are another part of the standardize testing. That's why students drop out rates are so high, cause of the many test that are given. Many people thinks requiring the students to take standardize test and earn twenty four credits do not improve kid's educational and learning standards. Which, on the other hand, some people say in order to strengthen educational standards and improve kids academic achievement high school students should be required to pass all standardize test including all five parts of the graduation exam and receive the 24 credits.

Standardize testing are a good way to test to make sure students are learning what is being taught. Students should be issued there diploma whether or not they pass or fail the many test that are given (Scott C. Bauer). Denying a diploma to the high school students on the basis of the students score on a single test created a whole new set of rules for the educational environment (Thomas Dee). One main reason many testing programs came about is, as the legislator and many other policy makers saw the many problems; Such as, kids were not making their way through the educational system without having learned how to read, write, or even fill out a job application. Then someone must be failing down on the job or not teaching as well as they is supposed to be (Thomas Dee). One once thought to solve many problems they need to set high standards for students, asses' students' performance with standardize test and renewed or punish students, their teachers, and their schools depending on whether those standards were met (Sheldon and Biddle, 165).

Forty- nine states and a number of urban districts have set standards for what students should know and be able to do at various points in their school careers. Half the states hold schools accountable and apply sanctions to those whose students fail to meet the standards. At least a third - with more soon to follow - require students to score a designated score on tests to promote and / or graduates (Wolk, 48).

Many people also think making a child earn twenty four core credits and pass all five parts of the graduation exam will increase a child learning potential. Many of the credits consists of the basics, such as math, English, science, social studies, etc. Also students must pass all five parts of the graduation exam. These tests are just more standardizing test that are required to pass besides the many others test the students are tested on. Students
