Strengths

Ocean Park is one of the icons of Hong Kong, popular with locals and tourists as well, with over 53% of the total visitation made by guests from China or overseas.

The Park ranked the world's seventh most popular amusement park.

Its first theme park in Hong Kong with 30 years of history and is recognized as a homegrown people's park.

Ocean Park keeps animals and water creatures.

Cable Car service offers breathtaking views of Hong Kong’s beautiful southern coast, Aberdeen and neighboring islands.

Education and conversation programmes with unique environment and professional educators offered to students and learners.

Easy accessibility by public transport and adequate parking space

Caring service are provided to physically disable, visually and hearing-impaired persons, such as disabled toilets, ramps, gondolas, tactile maps and the Loop Pad System.

Weakness

Limitation on land development as it's hilly.

Developing holiday resort elements would complement the theme park and represent a better utilization of land resources, and that could promote the Park as a venue for nighttime entertainment for local residents and for the holding of corporate functions.

Threats

The local birth rate declined from 17.9 live births per 1000 population in 1975 to 7.2 in 2004. Moreover, the under-15 age group fell from 16 per cent in mid-2001 to 14 per cent in mid-2006. That means local families with kids and teens would be reduced.

Mainland consumers have more choices arising from both the increased number of countries granted Approved Destination Status for outbound travel, and the growth in direct international air services to and from Chinese cities.
