Finally

So I've accepted a new job offer... Yes, I have a "new job" so please pause for a moment and jump up and down with me! I have been mulling over a couple of different positions the past week and as of yesterday, a decision has been made and it is a done deal -- I will be sitting at the new desk next week Monday. I am really excited about the new job! If I had to write my perfect job, this would be as close as it could get and I have to keep pinching myself to assure the skeptic in me that I am indeed fully awake and living this. To be honest, it was not a tough decision as the alternate choice reeked of Corporate America, which is so not my thing. The dicey part has been the timing, but everything fell nicely into place and I could not have orchestrated it better myself.

Imagine going to work in a wooded setting on Lake Michigan, several miles from expressways and the nearest actual town. As I drove out for the interview I could feel myself relax as I neared the facility -- the trees, the water, the sand, and no city noises - the air just smells different, pure and refreshing.

On top of the beautiful and peaceful setting, the organization and the job are absolutely perfect for me. For starters the idea of working for an organization whose mission is to inspire and develop youth to be their personal best is near to my heart. The facility where I will be working is one of two run by this organization, the other being located in New Hampshire. It is a small office with only about a dozen year-round staff (which grows to hundreds in the summer). In this situation one wears many colorful and funky hats, which to some people is disconcerting, but to me -- the desired position. My primary responsibilities will be those of office coordinator, IT support/go-to person for the Michigan facility, manager of a small seasonal store on the property, web site maintenance and some software training.
