Many of the people that choose to move to the U.S. tend to already be in poverty and searching for new hope. According to the book written by Daniel D. Chiras, "Environmental Science" Jones and Bartlett Publishers, 2006, a good percentage of the men and women move to the U.S. and find the jobs they are looking for are illegal jobs and aren't able to work. So they leave their own country and come to ours and live on the streets in search of any good or money they can get. This often times leads the men and women down the wrong road of stealing and going to great risks to get what they need to live off of. I also found a part in the book that discusses how more immigrants means more opportunity for terrorists, drug dealers, and other criminals to enter the country. This is also very true, although this does not contain the majority of the people that move here. The author Michal C. LeMay wrote the book "Guarding the Gates: Immigration and National Security", Greenwood Press, 2006, and told how immigrants, especially the poorer ones, consume a high amount of government resources without paying a corresponding high rate of taxes. I can see how this would be very upsetting to the American citizens who work and succeed everyday in this country. If you decide to come to another country you need to find a way to succeed. The only reason why people that were born here and grew up here are against immigration is because a mass amount of people that choose to move don't succeed and end up living off the streets and in very poor, unhappy places.
