Synopsis

After acquiring a small local civil engineering contracting firm, it is anticipated and identified that there will be increased in the volume of jobs for water services related work and small road works. In order to position the company competitively in this anticipated increase demand to undertake the job from the Developer/Service Provider, the company need to consider the purchase of suitable new excavation equipment for the new growth sector.

Suitable Excavation Equipments To Be Considered For New Targeted Sector

1) Multi-purpose wheel excavator (JCB type) - see Attachment 1 for technical and performance specifications

The wheel excavator is speedy and having the mobility to hop from job to job and thus saving time especially in built-up environment. It is multi-purpose as the front attachment can be switched to various bucket sizes (width ranging from 600mm to 1200mm). Its triple articulate boom gives the flexibility of dipper lengths to match the required reach, lift capacity and tearout. It is suitable for trench excavation of various width and depth. However, due to certain road requirements imposed by the local authorities, the excavator is not allowed to travel on the public road for safety reason.

2) Large Output Tracked Backactors (Backhoes) Ð'- see Attachment 2 for technical and performance specification.

The Backactor is slow in travelling speed due its tracked chassis, it is suitable to use in various type of terrain especially for muddy and rough land condition due to its stability. Its main function is similar to wheel excavator and good for deep trench and small basement excavation.

3) Wheeled or Tracked Loading Shovel Ð'- see Attachment 3 for technical and performance specification.

The wheeled or tracked shovel is mainly used for the cutting against the sloping face or embankment with clay, chalk and friable soil material. With its front shovel bucket, it is used to handle and cart away rock and stone pieces. It is not suitable for trench or surface excavation works.
