Carte and Fox bring about many issues that come to surface while working with people of all different races and backgrounds. Although teaching you to have good manners is top priority, there are other ways to deal with an increased amount of diversity. They say it is very important to know yourself first hand. You must know yourself, your goals, and accomplishments. You must understand your responsibility in the work place. Next, you can take a look at the people around you. Notice what everybody's job consists of. Think about the pieces of the puzzle and how they fit. Most importantly don't assume that they don't play a part or role because they are of different race or ethnicity. Build a relationship with fellow employees. Building a relationship may overlook how they are so different. Finally, think of the company as a whole. Contemplate on how the company will function if the employees are not cooperating with each other because they are not of the same race or ethnics or because there are too many stereotypes.

Connerley, Mary L. and Pedersen, Paul B., (2005), Leadership in a Diverse and Multicultural Environment: Developing Awareness, Knowledge, and Skills, Thousand Oaks, CA, Sage Publications, Retrieved November 18, 2006 from: http://informationr.net/ir/reviews/revs227.html

Connerley and Pedersen discuss issues that may arise on a day to day basis. The story describes how you can be aware of discrimination, stereotype, and diversity. People of many natures, origins, cultures, and background tend to work with each other and before to long, someone is discriminated against because they are different in some way. These others explain how you can overcome these assumptions. They will teach you how to become more familiar with you surroundings. The approach to multicultural competence development is briefly discussed in the readings. The two authors are great trainers on how to recognize any kind of discrimination. Work forces can be damaged because of this fact. At the point that people feel that they are being discriminated against, is when all the law suits come. People will fight until the end to get what they feel they deserve.

In different countries the employees have cultural differences with the company's origins. Freddye Silverman explains that "going global with HR tech systems amounts to a major journey". He is part of a team installing Oracle human resources software at Travelport, which is a new travel services company that will operate in at least 25 countries. The goal is to have a single source of trusted HR data worldwide for Travelport. It was part of the Cendant conglomerate and includes the Orbitz travel services Web site. Travelport isn't the only company wanting more from its HR technology when it comes to global plans.
