For this assignment, I conducted much research on the Head Start Program. Head Start is a child development program, which provides aid and assistance to financially less fortunate families. It serves children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. Head Start is child centered and focuses much attention on preparing young children from low-income families for school. Head Start helps parents improve their basic literacy, numeric skills and employability skills. It promotes children's developmental growth through early childhood education. The Head Start program holds classes, which instruct parents on how to promote their child's cognitive, social, language, and physical development. This program is of great importance, and coincides to what we are learning about in class. It attempts to break the cycles of poverty and lack of education of those living in paucity. It prepares the poorest children in our nation for kindergarten and beyond. Across the country, thousands of families reap the benefits of Head Start.

I have found through researching the Head Start programs, many are similar throughout the country. Schedules are set up the same, starting at eight-thirty in the morning to eight o'clock at night. This is a great advantage for parents to drop their children off at an educated well-to-do school curriculum. The only disadvantage of this is some children to not get picked up from Head Start until eight o'clock at night. This leaves children drowsy and not well functioned for the following day.

There are many work skills that take place in the program which involve comprehension, computers, and communication skills. Children who participate in Head Start usually have parents with a low income. Seeing the children being educated and bettering themselves is the prime key to the teachers of the program.

It seems the goal of the Head Start program is to break the intergenerational cycles of poverty and under education through an integrated approach focusing on improving basic literacy, numeric and employability skills of parents, promoting children's developmental growth through early childhood education, and empowering parents to promote their child's cognitive, social/emotional, language and physical development.

I later investigated the marketing development and strategies the Head Start program philosophies. I learned there are troubles that happen in any business, program, or store in which you are trying to make money. In Head Start they try to continue to make their program flourish and involve more students. Involving more students in the program and referring new ones, is an easy step in getting the impact of marketing strategies that you want your program to have.

The Head Start program deals with people day in and day out as well as their children. When dealing with marketing and trying to keep an even level, they turn to their philosophy of producing exceptionally powerful marketing materials. In which have an absolutely compelling, emotional impact that produce high response rates from the children's parents.

The Head Start Program sees marketing as finding out what your customer wants and giving it to them to the best of your abilities. This program seems to dedicate their time and energy as best they can to the children. The teachers want to see their students prosper on to well educated individuals. Even though their parents may be low in the currency aspect yet the teachers seem to not care about the money income of themselves, but in seeing the student be educated and get every opportunity they deserve.
