Hanson- It's All About The Music

I chose "Hanson: Are You Listening?", an article from the online magazine, The Trades. This article focuses on informing the reader of what has been going on with this band recently. Although they entered the music industry singing feel good pop music that no one really gave much credit, they have matured and are still around and better than ever.
Their most recent album is "The Best of Hanson Live and Electric", which was recorded in Melbourne, Australia. It was recorded during their Underneath tour, for their Underneath LP. Zac Hanson, the youngest member of band, told the interviewer that they had performed about 150 to 175 shows in the past two years and thought that it was a good time to record one because they had gotten so good at playing their music live. He also felt that it would give their fans something to listen to while they go back to record their next album, which is due for release in the latter half of 2006.
They are also planning a release to DVD of their highly anticipated documentary "Strong Enough to Break". This documentary was originally supposed to be a more intimate look into the making of their album; however, in the span of the four years that it took to release it, it turned into something much different. The documentary shows the difficulties Hanson faced with their record label "Island Def Jams". The label was looking for a "number one smash hit" and Hanson was looking to release a quality album without trying to force a number one hit. The band eventually decided that a split with the label was in their best interest, and they formed their on label 3CG Records. They finally released Underneath in April 2005 and it debuted at number one on the Independent charts. The documentary is becoming part of the curriculum at college campuses across the US.
