Indonisia's Policy On Decolinization

Decolonization refers to the achievement of independence by the various Western colonies and protectorates in Asia and Africa. The United Nation has wrestled with the issue of Decolonization ever since its inception. Many countries have successfully emerged into the world independent, with thanks to the United Nations., The cause of decolonization has been one of the defining issues of the latter part of the twentieth century. However currently, there are only a few cases left for debate today. Discrepancies have resulted in the past over the list of Non-Self Governing Countries. The reasoning is that many of the colonies on this list have democratically voted that they wish to remain dependant. Additionally, it is assumed that political goals repetitively sneak into the discussions regarding certain countries. In the past, this committee has been suspected of being used for a political tool then for solving any real decolonization issues. The United Nations must to decide how these problems should be approached and solved. Additionally, The United Nations needs to step back and assess the role of Decolonization in our modern world.
The delegation of Indonesia believes that the Decolonization committee has been one of the success stories of the United Nations. It is clear to the delegation that decolonization has grown into an increasingly complex issue which requires new and innovative solutions. Decolonization remains a political process requiring the will of the international community for continued progress. Indonesia would like to see cooperation between agencies, in terms of educational and human resources development programs, which would help implement decolonization steps. The delegation would like to express hope that the Committee would find ways to cooperate with the specialized agencies of the United Nations.
