Is Gandhi's Message of Nonviolence Still Relevant in Today's World?

Courage, harmony, nonviolence, and peace. These are what Mahatma Gandhi fought for and these are what he gave his life for. Gandhi's message of nonviolence is still relevant in today's world. Perhaps even more so, because in a world torn to shreds by violence and hatred, Gandhi's message is a beacon for those who have nowhere to turn to.

Gandhi was the most influential and remarkable person in the twentieth century, and his message was even more powerful and significant: "...An India in which the poorest shall feel that it is their country, in whose making they have an effective voice, an India in which there shall be no high class and low class of people, an India in which all communities shall live in perfect harmony." Though at the time this only referred to India, people of all races, religions, colors, occupations, miseries, and pleasures turn to it now. All the more, the action that Gandhi's message requires has become somewhat mandatory for everyone, because without the actions that Gandhi's message compels everyone to take, the world might well be chaos and confusion.

Examples are evident everywhere throughout the world--from minor to major, small to large, important to trivial. Very few things have escaped the impact of Gandhi's message these days. It has spread from India to every point of the world. How then, can someone be unaffected? There are many different kinds of both public and personal violence, and Gandhi's message plays an important role in all of them.

Public violence includes bloodshed in the streets of numerous war-torn countries throughout the world, robberies and lootings, and murders. How do people deal with such aggression? They ultimately turn for help in anything that holds condolence. Gandhi's message is one of those comforting things
