McDonald's Corporation (MCD) is the world's leading global food service retailer. Its "golden arches" and Ronald McDonald mascot is the most famous trademark recognized worldwide. The corporation was founded by Ray Kroc and is based in Oak Brook, Illinois. The Corporation's expansion is over 30,000 local restaurants in 119 countries, serving 50 million people each day. Approximately 70% of McDonald's restaurants are owned and operated by independent entrepreneurs. McDonald's opens a new restaurant every three hours and has twice the market share of its closest U.S. competitor Burger King.

McDonald's maintain its competitive advantage by constantly creating new items to its menu. With the introduction of new salads for adults and began offering fruit and milk for kids in their Happy Meals. Its corporate goal is to drive long-term, sustainable, profitable growth and increase shareholder value.
