Charlotte's web is based on E.B. Whites children's book. This is a remake of the 1970s animated movie. This is a story about friendship and miracles built from trust. The basic outline of the story is a runt pig is rescued by the farmer's 8 year-old daughter Fern (Dakota Fanning) before getting axed by her father. Fern begins to raise the new piglet and name him Wilbur (voice of Dominic Scott Kay). Once Wilbur was strong enough to be on his own, he is put in a barn across the road, where he meets all new animal friends including Charlotte the spider (voice of Julia Roberts). What Wilbur doesn't know is know is that he is a spring pig and they don't usually get to see winter. Charlotte makes a promise to Wilbur that she will do something to help save his life.
The remake of the film main good point was they have kept it to the book and not modernized it at all by adding the dance numbers or anything like that. The characters are wearing the outfits you'd expect them to wear been a farmer and how the family are expected to dress. The scenery and set designs were designed as if they were back in the 1960s when farming used to be popular; the setting even included picket fences. Casting was also done very well especially for the voice of Charlotte, for this character they need a warm comforting, motherly delicate voice which I thought Julia Roberts fitted it perfectly. And then Samuel the sheep, they needed someone who sounded quite posh and a bit of a know it all and I don't think anyone could of don't it better than John Cleese because he also brought comedy to the character.
