Societies Influence on Our Thoughts

Society is the jury and our brains are the accused. They are only able to speak when talked to, but instructed on what to say. We are constantly restricted the right to convey our true emotions and thoughts. Regardless how we feel about this topic, the truth is we all restrict ourselves from expressing how we truly feel at least a tiny bit. We can come to the realization that as a society we all withhold ourselves from what we truly feel instead of directly conveying our emotions by ways such as not sharing what we believe in and capping our emotions.

Society influences us to not share our true and original thoughts, and what we believe in. We shoved into a corner, and hushed, we are told to keep quiet so we don’t hurt somebody else’s feelings. But nobody seems to be concerned about our own feelings. We are constantly at a loss for what to say at another person’s expense. We have a hard time determining the balance between saying something in a very rude or unprofessional manner, and saying something that is what we honestly do believe in. We struggle for words that are original, and come to us immediately, because we censor our thoughts. When we censor our thoughts, we make it difficult for ourselves to process and create new ideas that make sense. So, by filtering our thoughts we make it difficult to learn and develop new skills and techniques that are vital for us to be successful individuals in all situations. Also, censoring our thoughts leads us to capping our emotions which is a huge problem for many different people.

A large percent of human beings cap their emotions as a response to fear of rejection, or even fear of hurting someone else’s feelings. When we hold back our true emotions, we bottle all those emotions to bottle up. When we refuse to share these beliefs and thoughts with other people, we make the bottle grow more and more each day. The process continues on and on each day, we captivate our minds. As the bottle begins to fill up, at some point it is bound to fill up over the top, and spill out everywhere which leads to many more problems emotionally. Therefore, when we bottle our emotions up by refusing to share our true beliefs, we create more problems for ourselves emotionally, then we would have by just sharing our original and creative thoughts in the first place.
