Who's to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death? This is a very controversial issue that really depends on your own opinion. I shall be discussing three main characters who I think played a large role in the lover's death, although I do believe everyone did play a role in the situation one way or another. Many believe fate played a large role in the death of Romeo and Juliet, but I don't believe in fate because everything happens for a reason, therefore, fate will not be discussed in this essay.

One character who I thought played a large role in the two deaths was Friar Laurence. First of all he married the couple without the permission of the two families, he knew if they found out, he would be exiled. He interfered with the couple by giving Juliet what she begged for, instead, he should have refused to give her the potion for a solution, he should have made her figure everything out on her own, she was definitely capable enough. In the end if he wouldn't have married them and he would have just left them to themselves, a lot of the story would have changed.

Another character whom I thought played a role in the death of Romeo and Juliet was Juliet's cousin, Tybalt. If Tybalt wouldn't have killed Mercutio, none of this would have happened. Tybalt killing Mercutio angered Romeo because he was one of his best friends. So out of pure anger, Romeo killed Tybalt. As soon as the town heard about this tragedy, Romeo was exiled causing Juliet to panic, thinking she will never see her lover again, so Juliet went to go and see the Friar. Again, if the Friar wouldn't have put up with her weeping and crying and said go figure it out on your own, then maybe the story would have turned out a little different.

The last person who I blame the death of Romeo and Juliet on is Balthasar. The reason is, he was the one who gave the wrong message to Romeo causing Romeo to go and buy
