Task D. Problem/Opportunity Statement

TeraTech must decide on how it is going to roll out the new product and to make sure all departments are on the same page before rolling it out to companies. By doing this TeraTech will have a definite plan and become successful.

Siebel (Successful)

Siebel is a division or brand name of Oracle that was started in 1993 by Thomas Siebel. Oracle bought Siebel's company in 2005 to add to the company already growing business. Siebel produces CRM software for many different companies.

Siebel in 2005 decided that expansion was needed in order to grow the company since sales began to decline. Siebel sales declined from 1 billion dollars in 2000-2001 and in the end of 2004 sales were only half as much. Siebel knew that the CRM business was getting over saturated and the company must start to develop something new or go under. Siebel had an outstanding reputation for pre-built CRM solutions. Siebel began to work on a new CRM solution called Nexus (S. Crowley, 2005) that was to take the company to the next level in CRM solutions. At one time Seibel had collaborated with Microsoft to develop a CRM solution since Siebel could split the cost of development and have more attempts in market share. Microsoft decided that it did not want to continue the partnership and with this split away from Siebel. Siebel later found out that Microsoft was developing a CRM solution and was going to target Siebel users.

Siebel new project call Nexus would call for Siebel to custom make CRM solutions for companies as well as push the company into a new direction of CRM solutions. Siebel started to have issues on which companies it was going to target and would the company have the resources to custom make products for these customers. Siebel expedited version 7.0 of their software without proper inspection and the company established a team in place to support the calls it may receive.
