10 Things I Hate About You

In the movie, the characters that resemble those of the play, The Taming of the Shrew, have many similarities and many differences from the characters in the play. Also, the setting of the movie is very different from that of the play. The two characters I chose from the movie were Cameron and Joey Donnor.
The character of Cameron from “10 Things I Hate About You” resembles the character Lucentio from the play. I believe that these two characters are very different from each other. The character of Lucentio is very confident in himself, unlike Cameron who is very unsure of his chances of being able to go out with Bianca. Another difference between the two of them is that Lucentio is a very rich character and Cameron doesn’t seem to be from a very rich family. I thought this because Cameron’s car looked as if it was pretty old and very used. A similarity that I found between the two of them is that they both disguised themselves as some sort of teacher. Lucentio actually disguised himself as a teacher, where as Cameron actually learned French so that he would be able to be Bianca’s French tutor.
Similarities and differences also occur between the character of Joey Donnor from the movie and Hortensio from the play. The character of Joey is much more self-confident than Hortensio is. He is extremely full of himself and thinks that he could get any girl he wants to get. This is why he ended up trying to go out with Bianca in the first place, he made a bet that he could get her to go out with him. Hortensio is trying to marry Bianca because she is good looking and her family is extremely rich. This could be a difference and a similarity. It makes them similar because they are both trying to get with a girl for their own selfish reasons. In the play, the character of Hortensio eventually gives up on Bianca because he sees that Lucentio has already gotten her love. In the movie, Joey doesn’t
