The movie 1000 Acres is about the troubling life of an Iowa family and its problems with a farm there father gives to his three girls. The movie takes place in a small Iowa town on a farm with a thousand acres of land. Many people could relate to this movie because it takes place in a small town in the Midwest.
There are many significant characters in the movie, but the main characters in the movie are Larry Cook is the father of the three girls he is also a very wealthy farmer and the one who owns all the land. There is also Ginny she is the oldest of the three girls she lives on the farm with her husband Ty. Ginny's sister Rose lives on the farm as well along with her husband Pete and there two daughters. Ginny and Rose have a younger daughter named Caroline she does not live on the farm she is a lawyer in Des Moines. Despite that fact that Caroline does not live on the farm she is the closest to her father.
The story really starts to take off when Larry's neighbor son Clark returns home after a long absents. The day Jess returns is the day Larry announces that he is handing over is land to his three daughters. Caroline is not sure it is a good idea to hand over the farm to his daughters Larry decides to cut Caroline out of his plans. The entire 1000 acres is then divided between Ginny & Ty and May & Peter. Even though he initiated the change, losing control of the farm does not sit well with Larry, and he becomes angry and abusive about his lot in life. His rage begins to escalates, and deeply buried secrets begin to come out into the open.
As the movie goes, a long Larry starts to become a little insane because he cannot take the fact that he gave up his land his daughters do everything for him. Later in the movie, Pete Rose's husband kills himself by drinking and driving because he could not handle the fact that his wife has breast cancer. Then Ginny and her husband Pete split up and Ginny moves off the farm
