The article “8 things that may be missing from your City's Strategic Plan" talks about some important points to consider in order to properly execute a city planning and the policies that should be taken.
In the first point of all the author talks about the importance of having a strategic plan accompanied by a mission and all the surrounding values.
Vision and mission are almost like the goals we intend to achieve in the planning of a city.
The author enlightened us and correctly that if we had a clear or strong vision we are well on the way, otherwise we should go back to the beginning.
In the second point, the author talks about the "Change Agenda" which is basically where we are now and where we want to go.
A change agenda for the author and something very important because it is through it that we are going to lead.
Point number three, clarifies to us that after the conclusion of the Change Agenda we must create strategic themes. Basically these strategic themes are the 3-5 objective ones that we want to achieve.
When defining these strategic themes, according to the author, it makes sense that we should look at them and see if they fit our vision.
The fourth point tells us the objectives we must take. The author describes goals as concise and short statements that make us reach our vision when they are fulfilled.
These have to be also specific, measurable and realistic, in case they are not we do not go very far with our strategic plan.
Point number five talks about the measures we must take and the targets we must set to be successful, and to follow closely if we are achieving our goals.
