A Battle Against Myself
I woke up to a sea of white. I started hyperventilating and banging the walls of the cryo chamber where I was being held. Thick, warm air filled my nostrils. I eventually managed to break the door and realised I was in a science lab. A Russian flag hung up near a window.
I peered out the door of the lab and heard a voice which scared me. “Where do you think you’re going Sargent Roberts?” the voice inquired in a Russian accent.
“How’d I get-, why am I here?” I asked.
“You, Sargent Roberts, are here because we have observed your military skills and thought it would be smart to have someone like you on our side. We knew you wouldn’t agree to fight with us, so we captured you and created a clone of you” he replied.
I started panicking, bolted out of the door and just kept on running, hoping it was a dream, when an incredible force knocked me to the ground. I looked up to see a face, which was way too familiar – it was me! I couldn’t believe it was actually me. I saw the Russian pop up behind the clone. “Earl, you’re not of any use to us anymore. ER2, finish him off.”
I managed to struggle out of the grip of the clone. I raced off and looked behind to see the clone pick up a gun nearby. Bullets started speeding towards me. A few were misaimed, but I knew it wouldn’t be long for one to hit the jackpot. I looked over the balcony and realised it was my only choice. I jumped over the rail.
I started opening every door in sight looking for any type of weapon. I got lucky and found a munitions locker. I reached for a gun only to see it knocked out of my hands by the clone’s gun. I was backtracking before I tripped over the gun and hit the ground with a thud. “Hope you like it in hell” the clone sneered, as I was stared down the barrel of his gun. I closed my eyes, expecting a bullet to hit.
But that’s not what happened.
I managed to roll over and reach the gun. The robot clone reacted to my move but not quick enough, I put two bullets through his head. His mechanical body fell to the ground.
