A lasting Impression
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart (Helen Keller.) Last summer of June 2006, I had the honor to meet and correspond with WJZ's finest Kai Jackson through my internship at channel thirteen. Having the fortune to work with Kai as an intern was a dream comes true. Being an aspiring journalist, Kai Jackson has always being my role model and having the privilege to not only meet this phenomenal anchor, but also working side by side with him left a strong and lasting impression in my life.
Kai Jackson is a superb leader who of course defines intelligence, knowledge, and determination about so many things, but most importantly, he is a personable man who inspires the traits of respect and loyalty in the world of journalism. Working in the news room in my first few weeks was very treacherous because the news room operated on a very fast pace. I became very disappointed and began to grow weary. Suddenly Kai and I began exchanging communications which refocused my direction and commitment by his attitude of never giving in or giving up. His ability to share his many gifts and talents helped my remaining weeks at WJZ which not only landed me a job at the news room, but also refocused and reassured my dreams of becoming a journalist. In addition to all his great deeds, I was highly grateful that he crossed my path with his mantra statement: "Never Give Up" which is a life lesson I hold with me everyday.
