People construe themselves more often with their actions than words. "I have always

thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts."(John Locke). This quote is

agreeable because people try to impress others with what they say and how they say it,

meanwhile they say a lot with just their actions. Just by looking at what they do and how they do

it you can see who that person really is. This quote explains that you cannot judge people

only by what they say and believe. You can really see who someone is just by observing what

they do. In A Midsummer Night's Dream some of the characters actually do what this quote is

saying, they say one thing and do another.

Theseus is giving Hermia time to make up her mind on what she wants to do."Take time

to pause , and by the next new moon-- The sealing day betwixt my love and me For everlasting

bond of fellowship-- Upon that day either prepare to die For disobedience to your father's

will, Or else to wed Demetrius, as he would, Or on Diana's altar to protest For aye austerity

and single life."(Theseus, Act I, Scene 1, Lines 85-92) Theseus tells Hermia she has one day to

make a decision on wether she wants to be executed for disobeying her father, marry Demetrius

as her father wishes, or spend the rest of her life as a virgin priestess. Theseus is saying that he is

giving Hermia time to think about what she wants to do, but maybe he is giving her time to

runaway with Lysander because he knows how much Hermia and Lysander are head over heels

for each other.

Demitrius loved Helena in the past once he met Hermia he changed his mind about

Helena. "For ere Demetrius looked on Hermia's eyne, He hailed down oaths that he was only

mine. And when this hail some heat from Hermia felt,So he dissolved, and showers of oaths did

melt."( Helena, Act I, Scene 1, Lines 248-251) Helena is explaining that before Demetrius ever

saw Hermia he showered Helena with promises and swore he would be hers forever. But when

he got all hot and bothered over Hermia, his promises melted away. Demetrius said that he loved

Helena but after she fell in love with him, he changed his mind and pursued Hermia.
