Many of us have that one type of friend in our lives, the kind we can lable our needy friend. This type of friend is probably considered a good friend in many ways but also tends to drive us crazy. You can probably compare this type of friend to a peice of Velcro.
I say that you can compare a needy friend to a peice of Velcro because they both stick to you when you do not want them to. Other times they may come in handy when you really need them, but for the most part, it is hard to get them detached once they are stuck on you.
A needy friend, like a piece of Velcro, can help you out in your time of need. Needy friends are sometimes hard to get rid of. They do not like to take the hint, you can tell them things over and over again but they just will not understand that you need to be apart from them at that moment.
For example, I have a needy friend that I love dearly, but he drives me crazy. He only calls me when he needs me for something, and feeling bad for him, I always give in. Once we are spending time together, I feel like he will never leave, he just sticks to me like a piece of Velcro. Sometimes it is so hard to tell him that I need a break from him, but with needy friends, you have to be straight to the point. Sometimes in being straight to the point I may hurt my friend's feelings, but with someone who is so needy I have to put my foot downevery once in a while.
Velcro, unlike a needy friend, can come unstuck whenever you need it to. You can just pull it off and throw it away when you are done with it, not so with a friend. Needy friends and Velcro can both be there when you need them; sometimes, it is just hard to get them to detach themselves from you when they are being too needy.
