A Rainbow after a Rain
When I was a little girl, I used to tell my mom that I wanted to go to school. Because she saw my eagerness on it, she enrolled me in a day care center where only about 20 young boys and girls were studying. I was happy then. I would remember how excited I was when going to school with my Ate Myrna. She was my very kind yaya. My teachers were very nice and approachable. They patiently taught us the basic lessons even if we were not obeying them and would find ourselves in our own world which is playing.
The movie “Not One Less” made me reminisce my childhood memories - those memories of learning the basics like reading and writing. It is a great film that tackles education on poor places and friendship ties that cannot be broken. It is funny yet there is a touch of drama. The movie wanted to show that even in the poor places, education is still important and is being prioritized by the people. Even if there is scarcity of educational materials, there would be ways on educating the children. I was touched with the story, especially when teacher Wei really wanted to find her students to get them back to school. She found ways on how to get into the city where her student had gone. She got hold of herself and became strong as she faced difficulties. I was touched when a lot of people had positive responses on the case of their education in their place. People donated a lot of materials like books, boards, money for building new rooms etc., but the thing that struck me the most is the boxes of chalks and when each of the students are writing characters on the board.
