In my primary school years, something special happened. Although I went to a normal school, with normal people, but one day there was this new student, who was out of the ordinary. To a regular school with a regular routine, this new and peculiar person adds in, and becomes an intruder. She was special, one of a kind. She had difficulties mentally. A disorder creates difficulty to control herself. She had a tic, of shaking her head constantly, and shouting weird and awful things out loud. It was hard for her, but it was hard for us too. To understand, to talk to, to socialise, to communicate. In a youngster’s community, being this weirdo, this abnormal thing. Others didn't try to understand, and they were afraid. They isolated her, and despised her presence. She was clueless. She doesn’t understand why. She was so sad, and in despair. Desperate for people to include her. As she was sad and depressed and stressed her tics became more vigourous. I was afraid So afraid. I wanted her to leave us alone and go live in solitary but at the same time I thought about her feelings. How she cannot express it, and how tiring and stressful would that feel. i Started to try and understand her. Her disorder she syndrome, and herself. Her as a person, Not a weirdo, abnormal, and certainly not a basket case. She was sweet, kind, nice. She was creative and imaginative. She loved to draw and create anything in her head. overlooking her tics and such, she was just like us. A normal teenager who wanted a sense of belonging.
