ABC Company New Employee OH & S Manual

About the Manual

OH & S is Occupational Health and Safety. Occupational health and safety is about providing and maintaining a work environment that is safe and without risks to health. The term ÐŽ®occupational health and safetyЎЇ reflects the emphasis on both occupational health and occupational safety. Occupational safety involves protecting people from danger such as falls, strains, being hit by objects or electric shock. Occupational health has a broader focus, and can include a range of factors that may contribute to ill health in the work environment.

As new employees, OH & S Regulation is much more important because they may donЎЇt know anything or just know a part of them about how to protect themselves and other workmates when working in the workplace. If one doesnЎЇt know how to keep oneself in a safety situation, itЎЇll certainly lead to the accident.

After reading this manual, you may have a general idea about how to keep yourself and other workmates in a safety workplace.

When safe working procedures are required, they must be followed. In addition, employees must not deliberately or recklessly interfere with or misuse safety equipment that is provided. They must not deliberately put at risk the health and safety of others.

Employees can help to make the workplace safer by working with their employer to promote health and safety. As part of their duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the employee must:

Ўс Practice safe work habits and obey all safety rules, and never take shortcuts or chances

Ўс Tell their supervisor about potential hazards in the workplace

Ўс Know emergency procedures, including fire evacuation, and follow them

Working next to an impact printer for several hours can leave one with a ringing sound in the ears. Users may develop headaches and tension from continued exposure to the high frequency, barely audible squeal produced by the computer monitors and the cooling fans inside the computer unit. If you find you are in a noise situation, tell the leader of your department as soon as possible.
