Abortion
I know what you are probably thinking.. Your thinking "what does abortion has to do with body image?" well, it has a lot to do with it. Girls should have the right to do what they want with their bodies! If it's to get a tattoo, or to get an abortion, or to even go tanning, they can do what they want to their body! When a girl is pregnant, that baby is a part of her, and I believe she can do what she wants with that baby.
Abortion is not a bad thing! It's so much better than having a teenager who is not ready for a baby! That teenager shouldn't have been having sex if they didn't know how to have safe sex, but it's their choice and they can do what they please. "In 1999, the estimated U.S. teen pregnancy rate was 87 pregnancies per 1000 females ages 15-18--a drop of 25 percent from the 1990 rate of 116." (www.teenstatistics.org) If abortion was legalized these numbers would drop. The statistics have said that teenage pregnancy rate is dropping, but not fast enough! We need to create other options for these girls though.
First of all we need to make abortion legal. Then we need to make some guidelines. Such as, there should be an age limit on abortions and there also needs to be a time limit. Meaning once the girl is past 4 months of pregnancy then she can not get an abortion. Because the baby is too old to be killed. The girl should be at least 15 to get an abortion. This is the age that most girls start becoming sexually active. Abortion should be the first choice though. There are better ways of birth control. Such as the newly legal, "morning after pill, or Plan B. This is a set of 2 pills that a girl can take within 120 hours of having unprotected sex. Basically what it does is flush out the egg and the sperm so that the egg won't get fertilized. Another way of safe sex is to use a condom. Condoms protect from some STD's
