Being ethical is not just knowing what is wrong nor doing what is right; it is not just following the laws, regulations and ethical codes of conduct. It is more than that because having an ethical behavior strives us to do our passion with values and aspires us to be the best of all we can so that at the end we will be flourished with success. In a simple manner, ethics is doing the right thing in the right way, for the right reasons and with the right attitude.
If I will have my personal principle concerning ethics, my principle will be ‘being accountable for every one’s action’ or simply having the accountability. According to the internet’s definition, if you take responsibility for your own actions, you show accountability. Someone who is accountable is completely responsible for what they do and must be able to give a satisfactory reason for it. We are accountable for our own judgments made and actions taken in our course of practice. As we can see, it is just a pretty little simple concept but developing and having the skills and discipline for this principle might quite a challenge. Even though there might be some challenges, just bear in mind that we should use truth as our motivator- do what you think is right. Also, know your limitations/boundaries- do not allow yourself to step outside those boundaries because you might fall apart. Lastly, think before you do- have the ability to look beyond the outcomes and consider the consequences. Accountability enforces us to be careful and knowledgeable in our personal and professional practices although sometimes, being accountable means admitting you commit a mistake and sometimes result to punishments but the true essence of accountability is when you show truthfulness and willingness to acknowledge your misconducts.
