We today as African Americans have evolved as well as come a long way. I believe that our Nubian Ancestors actually have endured a lot more troubles that we experience today. I believe we feel too comfortable believing that we are free. The younger generation has this attitude as if the war is over, or because we actually aren’t in a segregated school that things are the way that they should be. Don’t get me wrong things are better we aren’t forced into a religion, we aren’t beaten after wanting to learn to read or write, and we most definitely can vote. For how long though! Even though we don’t slave as hard I believe that we are as great and mighty as our ancestors we just work harder at things that society labeled as important. Things such as sports, music, and acting.

African Americans have contributed a great deal. It began with the inventions that affect how well we operate today as a society. Things such as the elevator invented by a black man named Alexander Miles. Without elevators imagine walking up tons of steps to reach a pint house. We probably wouldn’t be able to enjoy the luxury of cities because the nation was built based on a slave-supported system. An African American named

Richard Spikes invented the automatic gear shift and is why we have the convenience of owning a car. Without the invention of traffic signals driving wouldn’t not be as convenient as it is today.

Contributions of today by African Americans vary. We actually have more blacks giving back to the community financially and moral support. Such as one in particular; Tyra Banks. Tyra holds an annually summer camp that she holds for girls/women with low self esteem. We’ve also established ourselves more in the business industries such as Sean Combs, Jay Z, and many others that own record labels, clothing lines, charities, fragrances.
