After the War
For the new first generation of Americans the war was a time for change for them. They really had no ties to the British government and were striving to better the country as a whole and make things better for the people as individuals. They wanted for the people to be represented in the government by choosing their candidate to represent them. “”If people in their collective capacity nominate a candidate, they will support that candidate; the same majority which nominated will prevail.” (A Mosaic of America vol.1) As inheritors of the Revolutionary war the people felt that they had a responsibility to serve the government for the people because that is what they their ancestors fought for. They did not want what their ancestors fought for to be for nothing. They wanted an American that was equal in representations for everyone and not just the wealthy or high class, but for the poor to.
Some people just wanted personal independence by this they just wanted their own land to work on for themselves, but before the American Revolution personal independence meant that you had to have slave a tenants working on your land for you. The era after the Revolutionary War this just meant having your own land they could be worked on by the owner of the land with no slaves or tenants. With the land they would keep it in the family and just pass it down to their children. Most Americans just wanted independence and opportunity to change and make the country the best that it could be. People from the north wanted to abolish slavery and let the slaves be apart of the country, while the South thought that slaves had no place to be involved at all in the country.
I believe what made these to different was the fact that Evans was looking to further the nation as a whole and Boone was looking to help himself and his family. Evans was more concerned with helping the people get representation in the government and trying to spread a patriotic idea each and everyday. He wanted what was best for the country and for the people and he took his ideas and ran with them. Going against the Federalists ideas and what they believed in because they did not stand for the people only the wealthy ones mattered. Boone was a man that was just trying to better his life. Boone was in search of personal independence that was really a term given to the gentleman
