As I read the topic that was given to me to write upon, I have to bring my thoughts together and decide what would be appropriate to discuss with you about. Many things have happened in my life that are very important to me. I think that the most important event in my life would be when a really good friend of my, died in a car wreck.
I was lying on my bed, talking on the phone to my friend Chester Locklear. He kept nagging me about my boyfriend and how could be somewhat of an idiosyncrasy. I had to agree with Chester, my boyfriend was sort of an odd ball, then again I was a freshman and he was my first boyfriend so I wanted to make it last long so I decided to deal with him and his oddness.
Towards the end of the conversation, Chester and I got into a somewhat large argument about my boyfriend. Next thing I know Chester tells me that he has something to tell me but can only tell me to my face, so I allow him to drive to my house so I could hear what he had to tell me. Now you see Chester did not live that far away from me, only about five minutes at the most, so I figured he would be arriving fairly soon. While waiting upon his arrival I change into some decent clothing attire, put some make-up on, and comb my hair. All of the things I did to prepare myself for his arrival took about twenty minutes. So, I decide to go outside and lie on my back and stare at the stars. You see, my family owned a farm so I could see the stars vary well at night when the sky was clear and that was one of my most treasured past times to do with my friends in my home town Lumberton. Anyways, all of a sudden I start to worry about Chester because it has been about an hour now and he has not arrived at my house yet, so I decided to call his cell phone. Nobody answered so I figured he was on his way because he didn't like to talk on the phone while driving.
The wind began to blow softly yet chilly so I decided to go inside and put a jacket on. As I get off from the grass, I look towards the highway (which is about Ð... of a mile away) and see red and blue lights flying across the highway. I don't think I have ever so many police cars and ambulances go so fast at one time in my life as I did that night. As I saw them flying across the highway, I ran into my house and grabbed my jacket.
After running back outside with my jacket on, I begin sobbing uncontrollably. I have no idea why. I tried to stop, but I just couldn't. The tears were cold against my skin. All of a sudden my phone began to ring. It was my best friend Jessie; Chester's mom had called her and said that Chester had gotten into a wreck. As soon as I heard that I hung up, I didn't want to believe it.
Once I hung up the phone, I watched cars drive along the highway, the world began to turn in circles; each rotation was faster than the one before. I woke up the next morning in my bedroom. I prayed to God that it was all a dream and that Chester was alive at his house watching television with his younger sister.
As I rolled out of my bed, I turned the radio on to get my mind off of the situation so I could get dressed and ready for the day. The song that
