America, home of the free, land of the oppressed. America is one of the biggest contradictions in history. The reality of America is a far cry from the idea it represents. The claim to fame is liberty and equality for all, but one look at any history book or news station will tell you differently.
The founding fathers had a great idea, but the execution was flawed. You can’t claim to be a land of the freedom when there are slaves picking cotton in your backyard. Since then we’ve gotten a lot better, but we aren’t nearly there yet. There are people being killed unjustly, rich people getting off, corrupt judges, and many more issues restricting our ability to be truly free nation.
America might be the only nation that claims freedom, but watches everything everything we do. The worst part of it is that we don’t even know it. The government has thousands and thousands of cameras installed all over the country and to watch us. They even have street lamps that record audio. That’s not even the worst part of it though. Our government monitors who we call when we call them, and where. They even buy our browsing and spending data off of companies, so they know everything we look at and spend money on. If they really care about your freedom then why are they watching you so carefully?
As our nation progresses we lose more and more freedoms. In the coming years we will reach a point where the government will have to make a choice of whether they want to create an orwellian reality or back off, and i just hope they make the right choice.
All of this aside America is still great. We have a lot of freedoms, a great military, and a relatively high quality of life. Maybe someday we will break free from our simulated freedom.
