“America must pull out of Iraq as soon as possible to prevent any more damage!”

Intro

On the 20th of march, 2003, the United states, the United Kingdom and some of their Allies started the invasion of Iraq. The invasion was justified under the motto “Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, and therefore they are a threat to Western Society.” Today, it has been confirmed that Iraq has absolutely no weapons of mass destruction. The US inspectors have found nothing important that would justify an attack. The war in Iraq, however, is still going on. I think the war should be ended. America must pull out of Iraq as soon as possible to prevent any more damage!

Pro Arguments:

First of all, I would like to state that I do not believe in a swift pullout.

A swift pullout would cause an enormous amount of casualties and would only end in chaos.

What I would like America to do, is gradually pull out of Iraq.

- Too many casualties

The total number of US casualties today is: 3807. The number of Iraqi casualties is unknown, but that number lies much higher. It is estimated at about 80.000 people. In total this is almost 85.000 and this of course is way too much.

- Costs too much money

The amount of money that has already been spent on the war in Iraq is about $450,000,000,000(450 billion). This money could, of course, have been spent on much more important purposes than destroying a country.

Also, America’s economy is going down heavily at the moment. The worth of the dollar is decreasing rapidly and one of the reasons of this is actually the war in Iraq. If America would withdraw from Iraq, the money that would have gone to Iraq, could be used to restore the American economy.

- Because we are staying in Iraq, Al-Qaeda is able to recruit more people.(hate vs America)

- Staying in Iraq only cause more hatred and thus war against America.

Because America is staying in Iraq, the people are increasing a feeling of hatred against America. They want to get rid of the Americans and one of the consequences that could
