Animal Farm Review
I think I am going to use the tired and true answer and say that I found that the book was better. The reason I feel that the film wasn't as good as the book is because not only did the film have a different ending than the book. The film wasn't really suitable for any one. Personally I found it would be more entertaining to a younger audience. Unfortunately I also found that it was a bit too graphic for a younger audience. The film had at least two parts that I feel would make little kids sad and or cry.
As well as having a different ending I didn't like how the cartoonists changed the characters. For example Benjamin was sort of the cynical one on animal farm in the book. In the film he was that helpful donkey that seemed to show how the animals are feeling. I also noticed the complete removal of molly as well as some key other characters. The cartoonist also added a character and this seemed to bother me even more. I am referring to the cute little duck that is used in the beginning as comedy relief I feel that this story is to serious for that sort of Walt Disney feel.
I feel the adaptation was kind of an insult to Gorge Orwell. I chose the word insult because animal farm isn't a story about animals taking over a farm it's a clever metaphor for the Russian revolution and because this was not apparent I felt it ruined the story.
