Throughout many different parts of the world, rates of living vary. There are many countries that have an extremely high life expectancy well into the seventies and eighties then there are the countries who barley struggle to make it out of the thirties into the forties. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand, Equality 7-2521 the main character lives in a society that never has any change. Everyone's life is pre-determined for them and they are supposed to only live till the age of forty-five. There are many factors that determine a person's life expectancy. They range from a person's personal life to a whole countries pandemic.
All throughout Africa there are many countries that have not developed a "real" society. In many of these countries there is no such thing as public health, medicine or nutrition. There are no sewer systems in many of these countries so they have no way to dispose of their waste. Food is often contaminated with diseases. Poultry which is often a main meat in these African countries is infected with bird flu and many other viruses, in which they have no way to treat. There is very little water to go around and when a family can get a hold of some it will have to be boiled. Then they have to divide the water up between food and drinking. There are no doctors in many of these countries and if there are no one can afford them. If someone gets a little cut then it's almost certain that a infection will happen and a long sickness or possible death could occur. If medicine was available to all of these people then there would be no problem with such short lives.
A major factor in Sub Sahara Africa is AIDS/ HIV. An estimated an estimated 21.6 to 27.4 million people currently living with HIV. More than 76% of these people are women.
