Are we secure while we are learning?
School security is a huge issue among every school in the nation, with the not so recent tragedies at Pearl River High in Pear, Mississippi, Columbine High in Denver Colorado and Virginia Tech in 2007. People have questioned the security of our nation’s schools. Many states have taken vital steps toward making their school safer, but is this enough? According to Mr. Sanchez, who used to work with him in a food store located in Austin, Texas, the name of the security that was murdered was Luis Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez was also a security at that particular store. Mr. Sanchez stated, “Mr. Hernandez passed away leaving his family, including a little boy, economically unstable.” His human act to risk his life for a complete stranger was not properly rewarded. There was no monetary help for his family, causing them to struggle on their own.” I personally think that our security guards need to have more financial security in case of an accident, like what happened in 1998. My team member and I also interviewed ________ , Head Supervisor of the security team at Austin Texas College, located in Austin, Texas. School Security 2
