SYNTHESIS:

Army-rule in Thailand was brought back which will delay the progress of having democracy in the Southeast Asian countries. There is no good effect to the ASEAN members if a sudden change in the government of one country will be done since one of their goals is to have more democracy. Many leaders hope that the country will return to its normal state as soon as possible. According to their military chief General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, democracy will be restored within a year. The central bank chief Pridiyathorn Devakula was rumored to take the position of prime minister.

ANALYSIS:

Martial law is again present in our region and this time in Thailand. We have experienced this kind of rule. Thus, we can be able to relate to the citizens of the country. Most of the Filipinos who lived during the martial law period fought for their freedom and moved against the injustices of the government. It is really hard to have this kind of government especially if it is not applicable to one's country. I hope that Thailand will restore their order and the democracy rule as soon as possible. I also hope that the militaries in power now will not abuse their authority. They should really think of a good person who can take the position of being the prime minister to avoid such happenings. I do not want to judge the military that held a coup against the old prime minister since I do not know the exact situation of their country. I just hope that democracy will be put back again so that the ASEAN countries will continue to progress and meet their goals.
