Atlantis Paradise Island Resort & Casino: Improving Performance with a New Vision and Vission

Through this paper, it will be analyzed the current situation of EAC Nutrition, to find the key elements that have incidence in the case and find a new strategy to enhance the growth in Asian market.

EAC Nutrition has to overcome the challenges of an international expansion, where its core markets in Asia, Thailand and Malaysia has been deteriorated, making it hard for EAC to decide if entry to India, expand in China or expand the product line.

To illustrate the case, it would be made a Porter Analysis to understand the importance of the market analysis, and the relevance that have in this situation the firm capabilities and market requirements, and of course, the effects of the international market competition.

In this small esay we will talk and discuss a particular case of development and transformation of a big hotel company . The case is about Atlantis, Atlantis is a hotel with casino and is located in one of the islands in the Bahamas. The hotel has had to undergo a transformation according to a series of events disadvantageous for them, as was the 2008 crisis, which caused a considerably clients decrease, this forced them to change their goals and ideals.

To work the problem of Atlantis we will use the Porter Analysis.

Bargaining power of buyers. In this case, the bargaining power of buyers was too high, so this determined that changes will be made within the company, the crisis did decrease significantly guests too.

Bargaining power of suppliers. In this case, suppliers can be agencies that sell vacation packages to tourists, this may have an intermediate level of bargaining, because depending the commission they win and the promotion them made could be an important factor for assitance.

Incoming new competitors. In this part I dont think there are potential competitors at this time because the economy is in a low level, no new hotels are expected to open. So this force is considered low.

Threats of substitute products. I think one of the substitutes that could exist, is to arrive another hotel which had so specific niche as this. This is an adult hotel (for the Casino) and also a kids hotel (the ocean life and Disney´s experience).

Rivalry between competitors. Currently on the island where the hotel Atlantis is, teres no other hotel that has the same market niche, but its true that there´s a lot of other hotels on the islands, and this can generate low sales for Atlantis and this because any other hotel can bring lower prices and get the clients that could be for Atlantis.
