Ð'„Ð'« The objective of each team is to win by scoring more points than the opponent
Ð'„Ð'« Game consists of 4 quarters, 12 minutes each
Ð'„Ð'« No game will end in a tie Ð'ÐŽV if both teams are tied after regulation, 5-minute overtime will begin until there is a winner
Ð'„Ð'« Equipment includes a basketball, jerseys, shorts and basketball shoes
Ð'„Ð'« 3 basic positions of basketball
o Guard
Ð'„X Point guard
Ð'„X Shooting guard
o Forward
Ð'„X Power forward
Ð'„X Small forward
o Center
Ð'„Ð'« Team have certain number of substitutions and timeouts
Ð'„Ð'« To score, the team must shoot the basketball in the opposing teamÐ'ÐŽÐ'¦s net using the following methods
o Free throw (worth 1 point each, obtained from fouls)
o Field goal within the three-point line (worth 2 points each)
o Field goal outside the three-point line (worth 3 points each)
Ð'„Ð'« To move the ball, you must pass the ball to a team-mate or dribbling it
Ð'„Ð'« When dribbling, it will end if a player does the following:
o Touches the ball simultaneously with both hands
o Permits the ball to come to rest while he is in control of it
o Tries for a field goal
o Throws a pass
o Touches the ball more than once while dribbling, before it touches the floor
o Loses control
o Allows the ball to become dead
Ð'„Ð'« You canÐ'ÐŽÐ'¦t travel with the ball (running with the ball without dribbling or passing)
Ð'„Ð'« When the team throws it in to his team-mate on their teamÐ'ÐŽÐ'¦s court, they have 24 seconds (shot clock) to move the ball and attempt a field goal Ð'ÐŽV if they do not score by the end of 24 seconds, the opposition will get possession
Ð'„Ð'« You canÐ'ÐŽÐ'¦t pass it back to the defensive zone once you have passed halfway Ð'ÐŽV this is a backcourt
