Read the introductory paragraphs about the Fairfax Cryobank on pages 145 and 146 of your textbook. The authors continue to discuss this topic throughout Chapter 6. If you and your mate were looking for a sperm donor, would you focus your selection on the Doctorate donors? Make sure you include information about nature and nurture, costs, etc. Make sure you support your decision with supporting evidence. You can use outside sources - just make sure you cite them in correct APA format for in-text citations and include the full reference in a list at the end of your answer in correct APA format.
If I my husband and I were looking for a sperm donor I would not focus our selection on the Doctorate donor's program. I don't believe that just because this selection of donor's had a doctoral degree, doesn't mean that some of their characteristics, traits, and behaviors are not learned through the environment or people they are around. I believe that both nature and nurture play a role in which we are as human beings.
Some scientist think that people behave the they do because of the genetics (nature) and others think it's because we are taught by parents or other sources (nurture). It has not been proven that either theory is correct, so I don't think that paying additional cost for "doctorate" donors will give you that genius offspring you may be looking for. For example, what about the person whom are born with learning disabilities and impairments. There are several of these people who earn doctorate degrees and are of high stature. They were taught ways to over come their disability, and may have not necessary been born with a high IQ. Personally, I think its just way to get more money from the people which come to the bank looking to conceive a child.
