Living in the United States there are many problems or challenges that we as Americans are faced with on a daily basis. The issues that I think affect women the most are ones to do with body image.
Living in the United States we have come t overlook all of the problems in our society.
As Americans we are bombarded with images on a daily basis
We turn on our TVs and what do we see? This beautiful body that is unrealistic even to the ones who have it. These models and movie stars who are snorting cocaine and throwing up after every meal (if they are even eating at all), and we are supposed to look like them, but healthily When they themselves cannot accomplish this there is obviously a problem here. Take Kate Moss for instance, she is caught red handed snorting cocaine, goes away for thirty days, comes back and is praised. So we as a society are basically applauding her drug use.
The commercial media, for example, pays no attention to girls' minds and life goals. Instead, they show us Naomi Campbell, Nikki Taylor, and other popular models, telling us that this is what you should go for.
One of the largest influence on teenage girls is the media.The media pushes body image, clothes, and fast food. At the same time they push weight lose with unrealistic results. The combination of all the above leads teenage girls down the road to eating disorders and a confusing self-image
It takes work to look at a model in a magazine and realize that she is probably airbrushed, meaning that photographers and artists used computers and programs to erase any blemishes and often to add certain shapes to her body
Being fat in America may be more common than it was even ten years ago, but there is still a stigma attached to being fat, as anyone who is overweight
