Bound Together

In the book Bound Together, by Nayan Chanda, it talks about the globalization and how it progressed overtime to where it is today. He used many stories about traders, preachers, etc. to show how globalization came about and how they shaped the world. Throughout the book, he mainly examines what has happened prior to the development of large civilizations. Chanda’s main objective is to show how economics and trade have enhanced our world.

With the very specific methods used to gather his information, he investigated many different sources into great detail to find out everything possible to get a good analysis from each source. In the analysis of the sources, he compared and contrasted the history and the present. There was one specific story that he told about the Ipod that caught my eye because he went into great detail about how technology has changed so much over time. I believe that it has changed so dramatically because of people that were alive in the certain eras that changed the way of thinking and improved the ways of life. This up to why technology and the way of life is what it is today. The points he made were understanding as he showed he had the complete knowledge of globalization.

In the story about the Ipod, which was greatly explained in the book, the main is how Chanda realized how much more industrialized the world is today and how much people are needed for the change. The development of shipping technology around the world is a major reason why the Ipod was received so quickly. With these concepts he uses, they compare very well with another book we have read. The Origins of the Modern World by Robert B. Marks. The two books are not the same in all aspects, but are very comparable when showing how using outside sources and gathering enough information to show and prove your reasoning.

In the conclusion of this book, he talks about the road ahead
