In searching for information on the internet there are thousands (and more) of sites that could be found on a particular topic. Being as specific as possible with search terms can help to narrow down the amount of sites that are found. You can also go to specific sites such as webmd.com and search within that site. You also have the choice of using different search engines which would be equivalent to using different libraries. Different search engines could be google.com, msn.com or ask.com. There are other smaller search engines also.
In searching for information using the terms breast cancer, millions of sites are found. Most of the sites found that are on the first page are usually the larger national organizations. As you go through the list of pages of found sites there are pages that are organizations to small websites that are personal web pages of people who posted information. Adding the search terms alternative or complementary therapy for breast cancer narrows down the list to thousands of sites. Narrowing down the list to be more specific helps to find topics easier and eliminate some of the smaller sites.
A large site that I found is breastcancer.org. This site has a great deal of information, including free booklets, chat and even a gift shop. The health information on this site covers every aspect about breast cancer including prevention, treatment, research, support and recovery. The site is very easy to navigate through and is comfortable with the colors and fonts used. The site is also current and up to date. The organization has a clear link to contact them and an area of frequently asked questions.
