Cahier Speech

We are people of the Third Estate, Emeline- a peasant, Sheillinia- a bourgeoisie, and Croissant- a craftsman. We’re here to argue the issues of the current government system as we are being treated with harsh cruelty and are facing oppression. Every day, new people of the Third Estate continue to experience the unfair justice system as we are being punished for deeds which should not be penalized with death. Don’t you all think that we are being treated like hard moldy baguettes?! And we want to have a chance for unprejudiced judgement! A jury system should be implemented for justified punishments for the crimes committed by the citizens. For example, someone who has executed murder or high treason should not be equally treated as someone who has lied about their actions. There should be equality before the law and fairer laws should be applied. Also, just because we have blood relation to another, we shouldn’t be facing the same kind of torture! We should not have to follow your every command like we are just some worthless slaves! The military enforces fear upon us Third Estates which affects our everyday lives. They humiliate us, abusing their powers to oppress us, and terrorizes us for their own benefit. For example, what kind of reason is there in forcing us to build roads without wages at all?! There should be an end to all these forms of biased discrimination and abolish unethical punishments and penalties.

Finally, we should not be obligated to have to pay these taxes of which you, the government has used on things like the militaries to use for our oppression. We make up 100% of the tax payers and it is unreasonable that 81% is used for government debt, militia, and the luxury of the king and nobles and only 19% is used for public works which are mostly inefficient. The first and second estates are exempt from paying these taxes yet they enjoy the luxurious lives of pensions, free schooling, and dignity while we are left to starve and experience cruelty.
