Every summer my Dads side of the family and I take a trip to the campgrounds in Maumee Bay Ohio. The campground is monsterous. As soon as you see the entrance sign, a sudden urge rushes through your body knowing a week of fun and relaxation are about to start. I roll down the screeching window in my Dad's explorer, and I can almost smell the crisp air coming out of the woods, see the sun shining off the lake, and taste the campfire cooked smores and hotdogs.

As soon as we arrived we had set up our campsite. The tall oak trees were full of birds chirping and leaves blowing. The air felt so fresh as you took deep breathes. There was nothing better in the world then laying down in the woods taking in the clean air. In addition, the forests were inhabited by many types of animals. There were plenty of squirrels and brightly colored birds flying around. Not only were the animals friendly, but the campground was so clean you could have eaten off the ground.

I could hear the spotless, cool lake calling my name as the wind calmly flew by. Countless hours on end our family would swim carelessly in the water. I learned how to catch fish and clean their raw, slimy bodies. I will never forget the awful scent that the dead fish made as you cleaned them. However, as the sun sets, the lake would become cold. The clouds would disappear and the sky would be filled with bright stars. It almost appeared as if it were a scene in a movie the way the stars burned.

Then the best part of camping came at night. The campfire would grow large and warm your body in the cool summer night. The smoke from the fire would stick to you like a bad perfume. We would then cook hot dogs and hamburgers telling ghost stories. As the night grew on my dad would get out marshmallows and graham crackers. The we would roast them and stick the mallows on the crackers, adding chocolate. Everyone knows that the best part of camping is the smores you get to eat.
