1) Describe Lynx

Lynx is an Indian - Fijian who sent himself up for adoption @ 6 years old.

He was taken in by an incredibly wealthy family, who lives in Toorak, probably Melbourne's most wealthy suburb. Despite his new wealthy family that is trying to get him to become a successful dentist, which doesn't entice lynx at all he only goes home for the occasional sleep and to get money and then bail out to the street again. His parents have tried sending him to around 5 shrinks but he is always on the street. Lynx is culturally confused and feels that he doesn't fit in with this posh and "white" society. In my opinion he should get over it... and take advantage and be grateful for what he has been delivered too, but I suppose that this is only a book and Ms. Clarke creates characters like this to get the readers involved and to get them into the book and to get them thinking and creating their own opinions. I am no fan of lynx at all. He decides to hang on the street with low life bogans and druggies. Those being; Bex, Comma, and the ever drugged, Frantik.

Lynx is a pretty intelligent young man despite not going through his final year of high school. He can be well mannered and easy to get along with at times and despite his obvious familiarity with drugs he is still a half decent guy despite being a completely ungrateful and foolish in some cases. He is well intentioned most of the time and is friendly, and my guess would be that he has a secret crush on this new ice hearted, but dangerously stunning young Larceny.

Describe Larceny

Cold Hard Bitch. Her parents were screwed up in the head. Her mum committed suicide and her father was an abusive retard who in my opinion would have had serious traits of a man suffering from bi-polar. Larceny is probably one of the best examples of a person with a broken and shattered childhood. And these awful events take a huge toll on a kids mind and personality, they shut up, they close up similar to a vault. They let no-one in and are almost impenetrable to everything except god. They are usually quite aggressive and because of their childhood usually have incredible anger and fury bottled up and un-forgiveness inside their emotional tank. So I think Margaret Clarke did a good job and researches well into larceny's character and made sure larceny's past would accurately determine the way she is now.

She is a loner, a lone ranger, what i've noticed is she just floats about and is interested in people but at the same time hates growing familiar with anyone or getting close.

There's a part in the book when it says that she was holding back the tears or something like that which means despite being an impenetrable fortress she is within the walls of that fortress very tender and quit sensitive to pain and disappointment, just like everyone else. As for the voices, beats me.

I think it just adds to her already incredibly unstable being. She is usually pretty level headed and doesn't have plans, she acts basically on circumstances, and just floats with whatever happens, from suburb to suburb and group to group using people and taking advantage of things were she can.

Larceny is pretty messed up and it clearly says in the book she has an intriguing beauty about her.

Opinion of Stella

Stella, the old chick who runs the donut + pies and hot coffee stall at flinders station in Melbourne. She is old and Larceny describes her as "a tough old bird, shrewd and hardened with years of struggling against the odds".

She is nice + polite and isn't intimidated by anyone. She also thinks she has an eye for character when she sees lynx coming. She warns Larceny saying "here's trouble".

She has a good battle hardened heart and just simply goes about life her own way, doesn't really have any ambition or desire although you don't see many senior citizens with big dreams.

Opinion of Nick

Nick is a dodgy, Mid - Aged, rich wog, who is most likely a pimp judging on what's written about him in the book. He is obviously a very canny and pretty cunning sort of dude. He is a very sly character and you can tell has his own agenda going on. He isn't scared of larceny's absolute rage and her grey midst's. He knows his trade well and he is a man of desire. He knows what he wants and he goes out to get it. He is incredibly street smart and is a veteran of the streets you could say he knows his targets and hasn't been surprised by many young girls before except from larceny who intrigues him immensely. I think he
