Choose one text and write about the way it uses techniques to communicate ideas about change. Why did you choose this text? What makes it more appealing to you than the other two?

Change is a word that is often not defined to the full extent. Its meaning transpires into different fields, different stages in life and so on. In regards to literal proof of change and its stages I think that Text 1, as opposed to Text 2, communicates the ideas about change with more clarity and significance. Text 2, I think, still communicates change just not in a way that can be universally understood. Whereas Text 1 communicates change thoroughly in its simplicity.

The cartoon is a representation of the progression of change over a lifetime in regards to age. It shows this one mans appearance at different intervals of his life. The layout of this cartoon, from left to right, shows you the fluxation in age as the changes in appearance, which we recognise in the world around us, take place through the figures' growth and succession. By the way the figures in the cartoon are focused in the middle of the strip you notice minute details that highlight the change of age. Starting with the arm clutching the first figure. This arm symbolises the dependence in which we all face at a young age. Next you notice the growth of height, then the balding of hair and the appearance of glasses as age progresses, then the presence of a walking stick. And, finally, as if completing the age cycle and clarifying the meaning of the cartoon, another arm appears at the assistance of the figure in his old age.

The cartoon is drawn in the form of a black and white line drawing, which gives the effect of simplicity and focus' the audience on the figures. The diagram depicting change in Text 1 is marked by the simplicity of the detail in the cartoon. The simplicity meaning the seven different figures that entail marked changes physically, which are representing a common change, time. You can see certain growths that occur during certain times in your life, for example, your height etc this cartoon also hints at emotional growth which is represented by the arms that are seen to assist
