Play Review
1. Describe the four types of relationship as presented in the play.
The four types of relationship that I saw in the play are romantic
relationship, live in relationship, friendship, and boy to boy relationship or girl to girl relationship. The romantic relationship among Chris and Alex is considered as May-December relationship according to the PETA website, where there is a big age gap between them. The age gap between them is 15 years and they are living in one apartment which means they are having also a live in relationship. Also friendship is presented among Chris and the best friend Angel. The play is about one couple but different genders, there is a part where Chris and Alex are both boys or sometimes both girls and I considered it as boy to boy or girl to girl relationship.
2. Identify the characters of Alex, Chris, and Angel.
Alex character is played by both woman and man, a young
matured adult who provides the needs and wants of Chris and have a permanent and decent job. Chris is also played by both girl and boy, a young immature teenager who is a high school graduate and have an illegal side line work or also called as “rakets”. Angel is Chris’ best friend, and is imaginary because he or she does not showed up on the play but is one of the reasons of the falling relationship of Chris and Alex.
3. What are the relationship issues tackled in the play?
One of the issues that have been tackled on the play is their age
gap, the mom of Chris does not approve to their relationship and also since Chris is immature, he or she wants someone who is immature like him or her who will understand his or her feelings and thoughts that is where another issue comes up. Alex thinks Chris is cheating with Angel because they are always together, Alex just wants Chris to have a decent job not unlike Angel who does side lines but Alex is so overprotective and strict that Chris becomes fed up of Alex maturity.
4. How do you think age, economic status, gender, educational background affect the relationship in all types?
Age, economic status, gender, and educational background
affects their relationship in a way that Chris becomes intimidated by Alex since Alex is the one who finishes college, had a nice job and matured enough to handle his or himself. Also Chris’ mom does not approve to their relationship because of their age. Alex can buy something he or she wants on his or her
