Each of these assignments should be included in the Portfolio you submit at the end of the course. Carefully read through all of the assignments below.

Assignment A. - Optional and no points are attached. To prepare for the first quiz on number conversions you might want to do Assignment A and then get assistance from the instructor before the quiz. Rarely do students do well on the quiz

Class Assignments

Assignment 1. Excel Problem (10 Points)

Launch Excel and open the MyFi.txt file you created and follow the import process. Add a three line heading to your sheet and add a line after the last record that contains a count of the number of records that are displayed. Add a column containing the Average for each student's scores.

Assignment 2. Excel Problem (10 Points)

In this assignment, you are to prepare a summary report similar to the one shown below.

This can be done within the same sheet used in assignment 1.

Assignment 3. IRA Analysis Application -Excel (25 Points)

This is an assignment that was discussed in class and covers the value of an annual payment stream into IRA investment over 40 years at various returns on investment.

Assignment 4. - Visual Basic Assignment 1 is worth 10 Points

Assignment 5. - Create, using notepad, a set of ten records as discussed in class then write a VB program to read and display these records in an Immediate Window. Once the records are displayed, screen capture the image, and within Paint enter your name in the upper right hand corner of the page and place VB Assignment 2 below your name. Here is an example. (10 Points )

Assignment 6. Using VB and the file created above, prepare a simple report containing a three line heading and a trailer line that prints the value of a running total that counts the number of records read. (10 Points)

Assignment 7.

A. Prepare and send an email message to a class member who will print the message, sign it and return it to you. (5)

B. Reply to that class member's message and have that class member sign and return your reply to you. (5)

C. Identify a second class member. Send a message to one class member with a carbon copy to the second class member. Have each sign the message thay received and return it to you. (5)

Assignment 8. Identify by URL and describe six websites using one paragraph for each website.

In that paragraph, briefly describe the website and why you chose it. (15)

One of these websites must be a search engine Identify three engines and describe the one you like best.

Two must be websites that are not located in the US.

One website should represent a college or university.

One website should represent a Fortune 500 Company not in St. Louis.

One website should represent a St. Louis company.

Assignment 9. Identify by URL and describe 3 newsgroups ( 15). One newsgroup must contain computer related news entries. The second must involve international education, and the third can be any newsgroup
