Everybody's lives are influenced by many things and we all have certain influences in our life that affect us in good or bad ways. These influences could come from a variety of sources our families, grandparents, our friends, and the list goes on.
My family has had a significant impact on me. First of all my family consists of my mom and dad, and my two younger brothers. My parents have taught me so much. They taught me to be respectful, polite, and to never give up. With me being the oldest child I was given lot of responsibilities. I was put to work when I was really young. At the age of 5 I started to drive heavy equipment around the dairy. Not too many kindergarteners could even ride bikes at that time, and here I am driven a CAT 926E and semi trucks. Eventually as I got older I was given more and more work to do I started to take over the farming operation However, this responsibility has cut dramatically into my outside involvement clear into high school by limiting my social outings. They taught me the values of saving money. They taught me to look for deals, and to hold off buying expensive items. They had a huge impact on me working for Cat; they told me I can do it and gave me inspiration. With out them I wouldn't be here working for cat. My brothers taught me a lot and I also influenced them a lot. I tried to teach them good morals and do what is right. They taught me how to deal with other people, given me more responsibilities, and helped me when I needed help with various projects.
My extended family has had a huge impact on me also. My grandparents both came from Holland during World War Two and came into America and started dairies in Southern California. Growing up I was always over there helping them out with chores around the dairy and I constantly learned more skills such as how to treat cows, pulling calves, finding close-ups, feeding cows, milking, and the list goes on. They also taught me some of the old influences from Holland. They had a big impact on my career influencing me to work for Caterpillar. They always ever since I was really small I was expected to perform well and had high expectations put on me. My uncles and aunts expected this out of me also. However I didn't have a good relationship with some of my uncles and aunts growing up on my dad's side. I had two uncles that helped me out a bunch teaching me mechanical skills and how to work on tractors; this was a huge influence for me.
Right now I'm am not married or cohabiting with anyone right now. However this could be changing in the next few years so wish me luck!
I am not a parent and do not want to be for a little while. I am no where near ready for a child nor do I have the means to provide for one.
Growing up as a second generation Dutch kid, I was way different from other kids that I went to school with. I lived on dairies, dealt with cows, had the wooden shoes, and ate the food. I stuck out like a sore thumb because I grew up Dutch. I grown up talking to my relatives in Holland however have not had the chance to go over Holland yet and see my culture. I still can't speak the language fully but im trying to learn to preserve it so I can maybe teach my kids. However I had influences from other cultures also. Living on a dairy I had influences from Hispanic cultures. I learned to speak the language somewhat; I started to eat the food and was accepted by them as a friend.
Growing up my family is very religious. My grandparents went to church every Sunday as well as my parents. I grew up going to Sunday school attending church every Sunday, went to bible school and all that. Religion has had a big impact in my life. A lot of my friends went to the same church as me, so I could hang out with them there. Religion has taught me moral values, do what is right for your fellow man, and that there are other things to life. However now that I am older I have sort of fell out of place with it. It began to conflict with some of my plans that I had going with my life, and with my parents that wouldn't fly if I chose them over church, so I had to give up some very important things in my life and I didn't like that. I now feel kind of burnt out of church; I don't feel the need to go every Sunday. Yes it has a purpose and is a good thing to have in ones life, because of the teachings and inspirations it brings to people. However, going to church has gotten dull; a lot of my friends left to go to other places, and it became less interesting now. It also became sort of a bragging spot and people began to look down on you if you missed a Sunday or two, or did something that they didn't agree with. I also don't agree with some of the things that the church says. I believe you should be able to sleep with your girlfriend or fiancй in the same bed or be able to live together before you are married.
In my experience in child care I hardly remember, I attended preschool but I never went to child care. My childcare growing up was sitting in the seat of the tractor, or truck was my childcare. It worked, it was cheap, and it was fun.
Elementary school was my big dip into it all. I finally was finally away of the house for a good chunk of the day. Looking back its hard to say what has elementary school has had an influence on me because it just felt like normal day life after I got used to it. However now that I start to think about it elementary school finally got me to interact with other people on a way larger scale. I finally had homework now and tests. I learned how to count, spell, draw, color, play with play dough and all that. I had to move to another school when I moved here to Modesto. I lost all my friends that I had there and how to make new ones, but one must go on with life and it was for the better. Elementary School was where I had my first girlfriend, and I met my best friend there.
