China has a famous, man-made river called The Grand Canal. The Grand Canal runs from Beijing in the north to Hangzhouin Zhejiang Province in the south. It links the five major rivers in China . At about 1,801 kilometers in length, it is the longest and oldest man-made waterway in the world. China 's main rivers include: the Yangtze River, Yellow River, Heilong River , Pearl River, Liaohe River , Haihe River , and the Huaihe River . The Yangtze River, also known as the "golden waterway", is the largest river in China . At about 6,300 kilometers long, it is the third largest river in the world. The second largest river in China is the Yellow River . It is about 5,464 kilometers long with lush pasturelands and abundant mineral deposits. The Heilong River is located in north China and extends about 4,350 kilometers. You will find the Pearl River in south China with a length of about 2,211 kilometers. Most of China 's lakes are found on the Middle-Lower Yangtze plain and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
